New Years Resolutions - A Cyclist Breakdown
Well as we come to the close of another year and now a decade, the time is to talk to yourself about resolutions is upon us all.
Webster defines Resolutions as:
- a firm decision to do or not to do something
- a formal expression of opinion or intention agreed on by a legislative body, committee, or other formal meeting, typically after taking a vote
- the quality of being determined or resolute
So keeping Webster in mind I looked into the 10 most over used resolutions.
1. Spend More Time with Family & Friends
2. Fit in Fitness
3. Tame the Bulge
4. Quit Smoking
5. Enjoy Life More
6. Quit Drinking
7. Get Out of Debt
8. Learn Something New
9. Help Others
10. Get Organized
I am sure that we all could have produced this list with our eyes closed as this has been the list carried down through out the centuries but I have come up with a new list. One that plays more into our hands as part of the cycling community.
So here are my Top 10 Resolutions for the Cyclist in all of us!
1. Donate all of my money, including those pennies stuck in the couch, to LiveSTRONG.
2. Ride my bike as much as I drive my car. Not the miles just the time in the drivers seat
3. Carbo-load more often, just kidding this just sounds good.
4. Get my bike ready to ride the night before a big ride as to eliminate the DAF (dick, around, factor).
5. Pre-Reg for all the events you are planning on doing in 2010. This will speed up the race check in process and help with the DAF on race day.
6. Try and laugh at myself more often to try and remove the seriousness of my life
7. Wave at every rider I see on the road or trail even if they are riding a recumbent.
8. Lose 20 lbs before Leadville in August. Well I had to have one from the Over Used list.
9. Cheer for Lance, Levi, Horner and the rest of the Shackie's. Wait why should I do that? Not gonna do it!
10. Drink more Dales! Screw it I had to have one regression!
Happy 2010 everyone. Look for some kick ass stuff from me and Focus Bikes. As Tony the Tiger would say, "Its going to be GREEEEEEEAAAAAAT!!
Later Skaters!
